Justinas Marcinkevičius (b. 1930) is a classic of modern literature and a national poet of Lithuania. He is a master of the epic genre and the author of the poems "Blood and Ashes" (1960), "The Wall" (1965), as well as the historical trilogy "Mindaugas" (1968), "The Cathedral" (1971), and "Mažvydas" (1977). A lyrical innovator, his book "The Gentle Touch of Life" (1978) marked a milestone in the development of Lithuanian poetry.

Marcinkevičius's prose and essays have had a profound influence on several generations of readers. This edition is based on his poetry collections from recent years.
