Weather Diary (Distortions)
Дневник погоды (дисторшны)
In the semi-abstract prose of Alexei Konakov, phenological observations, meteorological forecasts, household matters, and concerns of family life are organized around one distinctly paranoid idea.
The main character not only feels the fundamental wrongness, the "distortion" of the surrounding world, but also firmly knows who is to blame for this "distortion." The aplomb of his mad "understanding" and the anguish of his inability to change anything merge and find expression in his speech — which is also distorted, disjointed, caricatured, and simultaneously tender.
