The book systematizes information about more than one hundred and fifty buildings constructed in pre-capital Soviet Kyiv. It presents all the discovered original architectural sketches, most of which are published for the first time. The book includes newly redrawn facade drawings that have never been published before and were previously unavailable to the wider public.

A special focus of the book is the railway station design competition, for which all known project visualizations have been collected. Based on more than three hundred sources, the book provides a detailed reconstruction of not only the history and architecture of the studied objects but also paints a picture of the politically significant architectural processes of the late 1920s to early 1930s.

It also analyzes the struggle of three architectural trends and the formation of totalitarian architecture.
